The 12 Best Rock Bands in the World
The dirty dozen of Rock. The all time greatest rock bands in the world. The votes have been cast. Everyone has their own opinion but it was surprisingly easy to narrow it down to the top 12. Music is an essential part of life. It's the glue that holds society together and Rock N Roll has become the foundation of modern society. From what's become known as Classic Rock to Heavy Metal no other form of music is so diverse or so essential. You'd think compiling a list of the best would be a monumental task but it was rather easy. Rockers know what they like and know what they want. So here we go:
1) AC/DC Back in Black is still the highest selling hard rock album of all time and for good reason. IT ROCKS! They have defined hard rock for the past three generations.
2) Led Zeppelin The mighty ZEP. One of the most influential rock bands ever. Turning late sixties blues into thunderbolts and lightening! Borrowed from the past, they created a future full of guitar amps tuned up to eleven.
3) Black Sabbath Black Sabbath gave us heavy metal, goth alternative and paved the way for so many subgenres music would not be what it is today without these lads.
4) Rolling Stones Mick and Keef may be know as the Glimmer Twins but what they and the Stones gave us was a glimmer of what bad boy rock was all about. It's only rock and roll but we can't live without it.
5) Beatles The proverbial question "The Beatles or The Stones?" well turns out most rockers put the Stones slightly ahead of the Beatles, but only slightly so we put them at number five. It was more like 4 and a half but we don't do halfsies here. Besides the Stones are still here and the Beatles broke up decades ago. That being said the fab four gave us the high water mark standard by which all rock albums have since been measured "Sgt. Pepper".
6) The Jimi Hendrix Experience Are you experienced? Hell YES. 'Nuff said.
7) The Ramones The undisputed inventers of punk rock. Where would rock n roll be without them. Gabba Gabby Hey!
8) ZZ Top In the seventies they were the biggest touring band around. Their "Worldwide Texas Tour" included a herd of cattle and served up BBQ to millions. In the eighties those "Legs" kept running. No other rock band is as easily recognizable. Three iconic beards, well two actual beards and a drummer with the last name Beard.
9) Alice Cooper Alice Cooper started out as a band name but even though Vince Furnier took it over as his we're still counting it as a band. School's Out permanently!
10) Aerosmith Aerosmith have had more hits than we can count. They've been together for more than four decades. "We are not worthy".
11) Snew Their first album "Snew You" was hailed as the first great rock album of the new millennium and championed the hard rock genre like no band in decades. Their second effort "We Do What We Want" is the most aptly titled rock album of all time. Snew do exactly that with great abandon and some of the catchiest rock songs ever recorded. We've officially joined the Snew World Order. SNEW YOU!
12) Kiss How many other bands have their own conventions every year. Love em or hate em they are undeniable.
